Poisons Amendment Regulations 2014

I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Poisons Act 1971 .18 June 2014

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Poisons Amendment Regulations 2014 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Poisons Regulations 2008 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Regulation 19 amended (Prescription for certain narcotic substances to be issued only on authority of Secretary) Regulation 19(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows: (a) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (e) : (ea) lisdexamfetamine; (b) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (g) : (ga) nabiximols; 5Schedule 4 amended (Specified psychotropic substances) Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows: (a) by inserting the following item after item 38 : 38A.   Follistatin. (b) by inserting the following item after item 39 : 39A.   Insulin-like growth factors. (c) by inserting the following item after item 65 : 65A.   Selective androgen receptor modulators. (d) by inserting the following items after item 73 : 74.   Zolpidem. 75.   Zopiclone.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation) These regulations amend the

(a) narcotic substances to the list of substances that a medical practitioner must not issue a prescription for, or supply to a patient, without the authority of the Secretary; and (b) restricted substances to the list of substances that are specified psychotropic substances for the purposes of section 38(1)(b) of the Poisons Act 1971 .
