POISONS ACT 1966 - REGULATION
(Relating to the provision of oxytetracycline to registered beekeepers)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuan ce of the Poisons Act 1966, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement
1. This Regulation commences on 31 August 1990. Amendment
2. The Poisons Regulations, as amended by the Regulation published in Government Gazette No. 101 of 10 August 1990 (at page 7308), are amended by omitting Regulation 43 (1) (i) and by inserting instead the following subparagraph:
(i) in respect of the substance oxytetracycline in the form of a stock medicine registered under the Stock Medicines Act 1989 for use in the treatment or prevention of European Foulbrood disease in bees, a person:
(i) who is registered as a beekeeper under the Apiaries Act 1985; and

(ii) who holds a-written authority (issued by an apiary officer employed within the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries) recommending the use, by that person, of that substance for that purpose.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to provide that a registered beekeeper (holding
an authority from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries) may obtain wholesale quantities of the substance oxytetracycline in a form for the treatment or prevention of European Foulbrood disease in bees.
