POISONS ACT 1966 - REGULATION
(Prescribing ephedrine as a restricted substance)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Poisons Act 1966, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Poisons Regulations are amended:
| (a) | by inserting in Appendix D, in alphabetical order, the following word: |
Ephedrine.
| (b) | by inserting in Appendix E, in alphabetical order, the following matter: |
Ephedrine 5.0 grams
| (c) | by omitting from Part 1 of Appendix G the matter relating to Group 2 and by inserting instead the following matter: | ||

All other substances specified in Appendix (b)
D to these Regulations other than the following substances:
1990 - NO. 273
dextropropoxyphene;
diethylproppion;
phentermine;pipradol.
(d)
by inserting in Part 3 of Appendix G after the matter relating to classification (c) the following classification:
(d) "This medicine may affect mental alertness or co-ordination, or both. If affected, do not drive a
motor vehicle or operate machinery."
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to prescribe ephedrine as a restricted substance under the Poisons Act 1966. Under that Act, a person must not have in the person's possession a prescribed restricted substance unless, for example, the person is a medical practitioner or obtains possession of it on prescription. The Regulation also prescribes the quantity of ephedrine that a person is regarded as having for the purposes of supply and provides that ephedrine must be labelled with a warning statement.
