PODIATRISTS ACT 1989—REGULATION

(Relating to advertising)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,
and in pursuance of the Podiatrists Act 1989, has been pleased to make

the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 6th December, 1991.

Amendment

2. The Podiatrists Regulation 1990 is amended:

(a) by omitting clauses 17(2), 19, 20, 21 and 22;

(b) by inserting at the end of clause 18 the following subclause:
(2) A reference in this clause to a Podiatrist includes a reference
to a corporation engaged or associated in the practice of podiatry

and to each registered podiatrist employed by the corporation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to remove those clauses in the Podiatrists
Regulation 1990 which specifically regulate advertising by podiatrists in
newspapers and by letter and which restrict the information that a podiatrist can

directories. The Podiatrists Regulation 1990 will continue to regulate the manner in which, and the extent to which, a podiatrist or a corporation engaged or associated in the practice of podiatry is authorised to advertise by way of general restrictions. For example, the Regulation requires that an advertisement must not be false, misleading or deceptive and must not compare a podiatrists’ practice with that of another podiatrist.
