s1 2 s3 Plant Protection (Papaya Fruit Fly) Quarantine No. 420, 1996 (No. 2) ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Plant Protection (Papaya Fruit Fly) Quarantine Regulation (No. 2) 1996 . ˙ Definitions 2. In this regulation— “pest quarantine area” means the pest quarantine area declared under section 3. “zone A” means the area within the pest quarantine area bounded by an imaginary line drawn from— the most eastern point of the coastal waters of the State at latitude 18° 20' south then in a westerly direction to longitude 145° 08' east then in a northerly direction to latitude 16° 10' south then in an easterly direction to the limits of the coastal waters of the State then along the limits of the coastal waters of the State back to latitude 18° 20' south. “zone B” means the area within the pest quarantine area bounded by an imaginary line drawn from— the most eastern point of the coastal waters of the State at latitude 16° 10' south then in a westerly direction to longitude 144° 30' east then in a northerly direction to the limits of the coastal waters of the State then along the limits of the coastal waters of the State back to latitude 16° 10' south. ˙ Pest quarantine area 3.(1) The area specified in subsection (2) is a declared pest quarantine
s4 3 s5 Plant Protection (Papaya Fruit Fly) Quarantine No. 420, 1996 (No. 2) area. (2) The pest quarantine area is the area bounded by an imaginary line drawn from— the most eastern point of the coastal waters of the State at latitude 19° south then in a westerly direction to longitude 144° 15' east then in a northerly direction to the limits of the coastal waters of the State then along the limits of the coastal waters of the State back to latitude 19° south. ˙ Restrictions on fruit movement 4. A person must not without the inspector’s approval— (a) move fruit out of the pest quarantine area; or (b) move fruit out of zone A to another place in the pest quarantine area; or (c) move fruit out of zone B to another place in the pest quarantine area. ˙ Restriction on selling fruit 5. A person must not sell fruit in the pest quarantine area that— (a) has a visible symptom showing that the fruit may be infested with the pest papaya fruit fly; and (b) is infested with the pest. Examples of visible symptoms under paragraph (a)— A visible breakdown or rotting of any part of the fruit. The visible presence of larvae within the fruit.
s6 4 s6 Plant Protection (Papaya Fruit Fly) Quarantine No. 420, 1996 (No. 2) ˙ Repeal 6.(1) The Plant Protection (Papaya Fruit Fly) Quarantine Regulation 1996 is repealed.
