PLANT DISEASES AMENDMENT REGULATIONS (NO. 7) 1993
Made by His Excellency the Governor in Executive Council.
Citation
1. These regulations may be cited as the Plant Diseases Amendment
Regulations (No. 7) 1993.
Regulation 17D inserted
2. Division 1 of Part 4 of the Plant Diseases Regulations 1989* is amended
by inserting after regulation 17C, the following regulation —
it
Western Flower Thrips — (Frankliniella occidentalis) 17D. (1) A grower who detects Western Flower Thrips on his
property must, as soon as practicable —
(a)
apply a control spray treatment to the infested crops; and
(b) maintain a monitoring programme,
approved by the Director General.
(2)
A grower who contravenes subregulation (1) commits an (3) A person must not remove cut flowers from an area within a 50 km radius of an outbreak of Western Flower Thrips unless the flowers —
offence.
(a)
have been treated as approved by the Director General; or
(b)
have been inspected by an authorized inspector and found to be free from Western Flower Thrips; or
(c)
are from a_ property which has been declared to be free from Western Flower Thrips by the Director General; or
(d)
are from a property on which a spraying and monitoring programme approved by the Director General has been applied.

(4) A person who contravenes subregulation (3) commits an offence.
(5) For the purposes of regulation 16 (1) Western Flower
Thrips is a specified disease.
