AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Plant Diseases Ordinance 1934

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government {Adminis­ tration) Act 1910.

PLANT DISEASES (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1981

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Plant Diseases {Amend­

ment) Ordinance 1981.*

2. In this Ordinance, " Principal Ordinance" means the Plant Diseases Ordinance 1934. t

3. Sections 3 and 4 of the Principal Ordinance are repealed.

4. Section 5 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting before the definition of " Disease " in sub-section (1) the following definition:

Authorised by the ACT Parliamentary Counsel—also accessible at

" ' approved insecticide ', in relation to a pest, means a prepara­ tion declared by the Minister under section 6A to be an approved insecticide in relation to that pest;".

5. After section 6 of the Principal Ordinance the following section

is inserted:

" 6A. The Minister may, by notice in the Gazette, declare a prepara­ tion to be an approved insecticide in relation to a pest.".

6. The Schedule to the Principal Ordinance is repealed.
