AN ACT to amend the Pig Industry Compensation

Act, 1942-1951.

[Assented to 10th November, 1953.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

and citation.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Pig Industry

Compensation Act Amendment Act, 1953.

(2) In this Act the Pig Industry Compensation

Act, 1942,

Act No. 38 of 1942 as amended by Acts

Nos. 44 of 1949 and 7 of 1951

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3)

The principal Act as amended by this Act may

be cited as the Pig Industry Compensation Act,

1942-1953.

S. 9 amended.

2. Subsection (3) of section nine of the principal

Act is amended by

(a)

adding after the subsection designation (3) in line one the letter "a" in a bracket thus— (a) ;

(b)

adding a new paragraph as follows:

(b) Where the owner does not make

an application for compensation within

the period referred to in paragraph (a)

of this subsection, if it is proved to the satisfaction of the Minister that the delay in making the application is due to circumstances beyond the control of the owner, the Minister may if compensation is otherwise payable authorise the pay- ment of compensation to the owner in • respect of an application for compensa- tion made within any period not exceeding ninety days of the destruction or death of the pig.
