Physiotherapy Amendment (No. 1) 2 No. 99, 1992 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Physiotherapy Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 1992 . ˙ Amended regulation 2. The Physiotherapy Regulation 1965 is amended as set out in this regulation. ˙ Certain references to provisions of the Act 3. If— (a) there is a reference in the Physiotherapy Regulation 1965 to a provision of the Physiotherapists Act 1964 ; and (b) the words ‘of the Act’, or words of similar effect, do not appear at the end of the reference; the Physiotherapy Regulation 1965 is amended by inserting the words ‘of the Act’ at the end of the reference. ˙ Replacement of Part VI (Prescribed qualifications for registration) 4. Part VI— omit, insert — ‘PART 6—PRESCRIBED QUALIFICATIONS ˙ ‘Prescribed qualifications for applicants whose qualifications were obtained outside Queensland ‘16.(1) For the purposes of section 16(1)(b) of the Act, the prescribed qualifications for applicants whose qualifications were obtained— (a) in a State or Territory (other than Queensland)—are set out in section 17; and (b) in the United Kingdom—are set out in section 18; and (c) in Hong Kong—are set out in section 19.
Physiotherapy Amendment (No. 1) 3 No. 99, 1992 ‘(2) The prescribed qualification for an applicant who does not hold the qualifications set out in section 17, 18 or 19 is set out in section 20. ˙ ‘Qualifications from a State or Territory other than Queensland ‘17. The prescribed qualifications for an applicant whose qualifications were obtained in a State or Territory (other than Queensland) are— (a) the applicant holds a degree, diploma or certificate in physiotherapy conferred by a university, college or similar institution and recognised by the registration authority in the State or Territory; and (b) the applicant holds, or is eligible for, full registration (not subject to any limitations or conditions as to additional training or supervision), to practise physiotherapy in the State or Territory; and (c) the applicant has successfully completed the written and clinical examinations specified by the Board, unless— (i) the degree, diploma or certificate was conferred during the 3 years immediately before the date of application; or (ii) the applicant has completed 1 year of full-time practice in physiotherapy (or the equivalent part-time practice) during the 5 years immediately before the date of application. ˙ ‘Qualifications from the United Kingdom ‘18.(1) The prescribed qualifications for an applicant whose qualifications were obtained in the United Kingdom are— (a) the applicant has completed 1 year of full-time practice in physiotherapy (or the equivalent part-time practice) during the 5 years immediately before the date of application; and (b) the applicant holds— (i) a certificate of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy of the United Kingdom awarded after completion of a course of study at a School of Physiotherapy approved by the Society and the successful completion of the Society’s examinations in the theory and practice of physiotherapy; or
Physiotherapy Amendment (No. 1) 4 No. 99, 1992 (ii) physiotherapy qualifications received after graduation from a physiotherapy degree or diploma course validated by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy of the United Kingdom. ‘(2) The qualifications under subsection (1)(b) do not include— (a) successful completion of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s Complementary Skills Course in the United Kingdom; or (b) graduation from a degree or diploma course validated by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy of Eire. ˙ ‘Qualifications from Hong Kong ‘19. The prescribed qualifications for an applicant whose qualifications were obtained in Hong Kong are— (a) the applicant has completed 1 year of full-time practice in physiotherapy (or the equivalent part-time practice) during the 5 years immediately before the date of application; and (b) the applicant holds— (i) a Certificate of Physiotherapy issued on or before 31 December 1977 by the Hong Kong Medical and Health Department after completion of physiotherapy training at the School of Physiotherapy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Kowloon, Hong Kong; or (ii) a Professional Diploma in Physiotherapy awarded by the Hong Kong Polytechnic after 31 December 1977. ˙ ‘Prescribed qualification for any other applicant ‘20. The prescribed qualification for any other applicant is the final certificate of the Australian Examining Council for Overseas Physiotherapists. ’.
