PHARMACY ACT 1964
PHARMACY AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 1997
Made by the Governor in Executive Council.
Citation
I. These regulations may be cited as the Pharmacy Amendment
Regulations 1997.
Commencement
2. These regulations come into operation on 1 August 1997.
Principal regulations
3. In these regulations the Pharmacy Act Regulations 1976* are referred to as the principal regulations.

"28" and substituting the following - 4. Regulation 8 (2) (b) of the principal regulations is amended by deleting " 35
Regulation 11 amended5. Regulation 11 (2) of the principal regulations is amended - (a) by inserting after "initialled" the following -
have not been rejected; and

or authenticated in some other way "; and
(b) by deleting "name and". Regulation 12 amended
6. Regulation 12 of the principal regulations is amended -
(a) in subregulation (1) by deleting" and shall compare each of the signatures on the counterfoils witil the signatures of the voters in the Signature Book kept pursuant to regulation 34"; and
(b) subregulation - by deleting subregulation (2) and substituting the following it
(2) The returning officer shall -
(a) is returned without a counterfoil or with an reject any envelope marked "Ballot Paper" that unsigned counterfoil; (b) open the envelopes marked "Ballot Paper" that

(c) ascertain the number of votes cast in favour of the respective candidates.
Regulation 25 amended
7. Regulation 25 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting
"resolutions" and substituting the following -

Regulations 34 and 35 repealed
8. Regulations 34 and 35 of the principal regulations are repealed.
Regulation 36 amended
9. Regulation 36 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting "All
surplus funds to the credit of the said account" and substituting the
following -
Surplus funds held by the Council ".
Regulation 37 repealed
10. Regulation 37 of the principal regulations is repealed.
Regulations 39 and 40 repealed and heading deleted
11. (1) The heading before regulation 39 of the principal regulations is
deleted.
(2) Regulations 39 and 40 of the principal regulations are repealed.
Regulation 41 amended
12. Regulation 41 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting
"Bachelor of Applied Science (Pharmacy) conducted by the Western Australian Institute of Technology" and substituting the following - 44 Bachelor of Pharmacy conducted by the Curtin University of
Technology
Regulation 43 amended
13. Regulation 43 of the principal regulations is amended -
(a) in subregulation (3) by deleting ", and a duplicate copy of the entries made therein shall be submitted to the Council not later than 14 days following the close of each three monthly period."
and substituting the following -
"
and must submit the original record to the Council -
(a) within 14 days after completion of the first 500 hours of practical training; and

(b) at the completion of another 2 000 hours of practical training. and
(b) in subregulation (4) —
by inserting after "carry out all assignments" the
(i) following —
" and undertake all examinations "; and
by inserting after "have been properly completed" the

" or examinations have been passed ".
Regulation 44 amended
14. Regulation 44 (1) (c) of the principal regulations is amended by deleting
"in any one normal working week from Monday to Saturday, both inclusive"
and substituting the following —
" in any one week ".
Regulation 51 amended
15. Regulation 51 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting
"letter" and substituting the following —
" post ".
Regulation 53 amended
16. Regulation 53 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting "letter" and substituting the following —
" post ".
Regulation 61A inserted
17. After regulation 61 of the principal regulations the following regulation
is inserted —
61A. Where the business of a pharmaceutical chemist ceases to be carried on in a registered 13harmacy? the person in whose name the pharmacy is registered shall, within 7 days after the last day of business —
(a) longer used as a pharmacy; and notify the Registrar in writing that the premises are no (b)
return the certificate of registration issued to the pharmacy. PP.

Regulation 62 amended
18. Regulation 62 of the principal regulations is amended -
(a) in subregulation (1), by deleting "Without prejudice to the operation of regulation 64, a" and substituting the following - A ";and
(b) by repealing subregulation (2). Regulation 63 amended
19. Regulation 63 of the principal regulations is amended - (a) in subregulation (1) -
(i) in paragraph (b) by deleting ", or which indicates that a consulting service relating to the cure or treatment of
diseases or illnesses is carried on in premises in which he
practises as a pharmaceutical chemist';(ii)
substituting a full stop; and by deleting the semicolon at the end of paragraph (d) and (iii) by deleting paragraph (e);
(b) by repealing subregulation (2);
(c)
in subregulation (3) by deleting "therein, if the words and letters in or on that sign are not more than 30 mm in height." and substituting the following -
therein. ";and
(d) by repealing subregulation (4).
Regulation 64 repealed
20. Regulation 64 of the principal regulations is repealed.
Appendix A amended 21. Appendix A to the principal regulations is amended - (a) in Form 2-
by deleting the paragraph commencing "The voter is to
(i) strike out the name of the candidate or candidates" and
substituting the following paragraph -

Strike out the name of the candidate (or candidates) for whom you do not wish to vote. Only .....names may be left uncancelled or your vote will be invalid. by deleting "The voter must insert his" and substituting the
(ii) following -
