An Act to amend the Pharmacy Act 1931

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

  1. Name of Act

    This Act is the Pharmacy Amendment Act 2004.

  2. Commencement

    This Act commences on the day after its notification day.

    NoteThe naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

  3. Legislation amended

    This Act amends the Pharmacy Act 1931.

  4. New section 48B

    insert

48BRestriction on pharmacy premises

(1)A registered pharmacist must not carry on a pharmacy business as owner on, inside or partly inside the premises of a supermarket.

(2)In this section:

supermarket means a large shop selling food and other household items where the selection of goods is organised on a self-serve basis.

NoteThis definition is the same as the definition of ‘supermarket’ in the Territory plan.
