PHARMACY (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Elizabeth II, An Act to make further provision in relation No. ^ 1 9 5 4 . registration of pharmacists; for this
purpose to amend the Pharmacy Act, 1897 1952, in certain respects; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 23rd April, 1954.]
"OE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the advice and consent of the Legis
lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South
Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—
Short title

| (b) | he holds a certificate or diploma granted by a College or Board of Pharmacy in any country whether British or foreign (other than New South Wales), which certificate or diploma is recognised by the Board as furnishing such guarantee of knowledge and skill in i)harmacy that, if he satisfies the requirements of paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) of this subsection, he will have the requisite knowledge and skill for the efficient practice of pharmacy in New South Wales; |
| (c) | he satisfies the University of Sydney by examination or otherwise of proficiency in each of the following subjects, namely, chemistry, practical chemistry, botany and materia medica; |
| (d) | he has passed an examination before examiners appointed by the Senate of the University of Sydney in the subject of practical pharmacy; and |
| (e) | he satisfies the Board that he has, before or after the commencement of the Pharmac-y (Amendment) Act, 1954, served as an assis.t- ant for a period of not less than twelve months in the business of a registered pharmacist in New South Wales or the Australian Capital Territory, keeping open shop for the purpose of dispensing and com pounding medical prescriptions; or for a like period as an assistant to a registered pharmacist in charge of a dispensary of a Friendly Society in New South Wales or the Australian Capital Territory; or for a like period as an assistant to a registered pharmacist who is also a managing director or general manager of a company where such assistantship is served in open shop kept by such company in New South Wales or the Australian Capital Territory for the purpose of dispensing and compounding medical prescriptions; or for a like period as an assistant to a registered pharmacist in |

| In this paragraph “ registered pharma cist” means a phaimacist whose name is entered on the register kept in pursuance of this Act or on the register kept in pursuance of the law for the time being in force in the Australian Capital Territory relating to the registration of pharmacists. |
