His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Pharmacy Act 1964.

Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to allow graduates of the pharmacy course at Charles Sturt University to be registered as pharmacists under the Pharmacy Act 1964. At present, section 13 (1) of that Act provides that a person is entitled to be registered as a pharmacist if, among other things, the person has passed through a regular graded course in pharmacy of at least 3 years’ duration at the University of Sydney or any other prescribed university in New South Wales. This Regulation makes Charles Sturt University a prescribed university for the purposes of that section.

This Regulation is made under the Pharmacy Act 1964, including section 3 (definition of Prescribed), section 13 (1) (a) (relating to prescribed universities) and section 38 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Pharmacy (General) Amendment

Regulation 1997.

2 Amendment of Pharmacy (General) Regulation 1993

The Pharmacy (General) Regulation 1993 is amended as set out

in Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Insert after clause 4:

4A Qualifications for registration: prescribed university

(sec 13)

For the purposes of section 13 (1) (a) of the Act, Charles

Sturt University is a prescribed university.
