An Act to enable the Governor of the Colony to cancel appointments of places for holding' Courts of Pet ty Sessions. [15th Jane, 1848.]

WH E R E A S by an Act made and passed in t he th i rd year of t he re ign of H i s la te Majesty K i n g Wi l l i am the Four th in t i tu led

" An Act to consolidate and amend the Laws for the transportation and

" punishment of Offenders in New South Wales and for defining the

" respective powers and authorities	of General Quarter Sessions and
" of Petti/ Sessions and for determining	the places at which the same

" shall be hold-en and for the better regulating the summary jurisdiction

" of Justices of the Peace and for repealing certain Laws and

" Ordinances relating thereto " it was enacted t h a t it should and migh t be lawful for t he Govornor for t h e t ime be ing by any notice publ ished in t he Government Gazette t o appoint places a t which P e t t y Sessions should be holden A n d whereas doubts have ar i sen as to the power of the Governor to cancel as occasion m a y requ i re any such appo in tments as have or a t any t ime shall have been made and it is expedient to remove such doubts Be it therefore declared and enacted by H i s Excel lency t h e Governor of N e w South W a l e s wi th t he advice a n d consent of t he Legislat ive Counci l thereof Tha t i t shall and m a y be lawful for t he Governor for t he t ime being of t he said Colony by any notice to be publ ished in t h e Government Gazette to cancel t he appo in tmen t of any place; which lias been or shall at any t ime here­ after be appoin ted as a, place at which P e t t y Sessions shall be holden a n d t h e r e u p o n such place shal l thencefor th cease to be a place for
