His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Mining Act 1992.

Explanatory note
At present, clause 5 (2) of the Petroleum (Onshore) Regulation 1997 requires a map or a plan accompanying an application for any petroleum title (other than a petroleum exploration licence) under the Petroleum (Onshore) Act 1991, or otherwise prepared for the purposes of that Act, to be drawn on or overlay one of 3 maps, one of which is required to show “the co-ordinates (by reference to Integrated Survey Grid co-ordinates) of all points where there is a change in direction of the boundaries of the land”.

The object of this Regulation is to amend clause 5 (2) so as to require, instead, that the co-ordinates be shown by reference to Map Grid of Australia co-ordinates. This Regulation is made under the Petroleum (Onshore) Act 1991 and, in particular, under section 138 (the general regulation-making power).

1     Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Petroleum (Onshore) Amendment (Description of Land) Regulation 2000.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 26 May 2000.

3 Amendment of Petroleum (Onshore) Regulation 1997

The Petroleum (Onshore) Regulation 1997 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

4 Notes

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Omit “by reference to Integrated Survey Grid co-ordinates” from clause 5
(2) (c).
Insert instead “by reference to Map Grid of Australia co-ordinates”.

Insert after clause 5 (2):

(3) In this clause, Map Grid of Australia means a rectangular co- ordinate system using a Transverse Mercator projection with zones 6 degrees wide and based on the Geocentric Datum of Australia (within the meaning of the Survey (Geocentric Datum of Australia) Act 1999).
