Commencement Proclamation

under the

Personal Property Securities Legislation Amendment Act 2010
No 57

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Personal Property Securities Legislation Amendment Act 2010, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 13 August 2010 as the day on which Schedule 1.7, 1.16, 1.19 and 1.20 to that Act commence.

Explanatory note

The objects of this Proclamation are:

(a)

to commence amendments to the Fair Trading Act 1987 that enable the Director-General within the meaning of that Act to enter into information sharing arrangements in connection with the transfer of functions relating to fair trading (including to a Commonwealth body), and

(b)

to commence amendments to the Registration of Interests in Goods Act 1986 and Registration of Interests in Goods Regulation 2004 concerning the use of manufacturer’s numbers in the registration of interests in motor vehicles under that Act, and

Explanatory note

(c)

to commence various further amendments to the Personal Property Securities (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2009 that are consequential on the enactment of the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 of the Commonwealth.
