An Ordinance for securing a Pension to Wil-

liam Henry Mackie, Esquire.

HEREAS, in consideration of the long services of William

Henry Mackie, Esquire, as Judge d the Civil and Criminal

Courts of the Colony of Western Australia, the Legislative Council

thereof has unanimously voted that a Yearly Pension of Four hun- Preamble.

on his retirement from his said office ; and it is expedient that such Pension be secured in manner hereinafter provided : Be it therefore enacted, by His Excellency the Governor of the said Colony and its dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof:—

I. THAT a Yearly Pension of Four Hundred Pounds sterling moo.

shall be allowed and paid, out of the general Revenue of the said

from his said office for the residue of his natural life, subject to the proviso hereinafter contained ; that such Pension shall be paid in equal monthly instalments ; and that the first of such instalments shall be paid at the expiration of one month from the date of such retirement from office.

of profit under the Local or Imperial Government.

III. THAT the warrant of His Excellency the said Governor, directed to the Treasurer of the said Colony, for paying the said Pension in manner aforesaid, as the same shall from time.to time be- come due and payable, shall be sufficient authority to the said Treasurer for making such payments ; and that the receipt of the

said William Henry Mackie, or of his appointee in writing, shall be a full discharge to the said Treasurer in respect of any sum thereby acknowledged to have been received, and the amount thereof shall be passed to his credit in account accordingly.
