I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the
Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the
Dated 18 November 1994.

1.1 Regulation

2.1 The Patents Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.
3.1 Insert the following definitions:
“
3.2 Definition of “member”:
Omit “Commissioner;”, substitute “Chairperson;”.
4.1 Subregulation 20.32 (2) (a):
Omit the paragraph, substitute:
“(a) the Chairperson; and”.
4.2 Subregulation 20.32 (3):
Omit the subregulation, substitute:
The Minister may appoint in writing as the Chairperson a person who holds, or performs the duties of, a Senior Executive Service office in AIPO .

Omit “Commissioner”, substitute “Chairperson”.
6.1 Omit “Commissioner” (wherever occurring), substitute “Chairperson”.
7.1 Omit “Commissioner” (twice occurring), substitute “Chairperson”.
8.1 Subregulation 20.40 (1):
Omit the subregulation, substitute:
The Minister may appoint in writing as the Secretary to the Board a person who holds, or performs the duties of, an office in AIPO.

Omit the items, substitute:

10.1 A person who before 30 May 1995:
(a) passed a subject specified in column 2 of an item in the following table; or
(b) under regulation 20.13 of the Patents Regulations is exempt from passing a subject specified in column 2 of an item in the following table;
is taken to have passed the subject specified in column 3 of the item:
