REGULATIONS UNDER THE PASSPORTS ACT 1920.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Passports Act 1920, to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of Passports Regulations 1922.

(Statutory Rules 1923. No. 24.)

1. Regulation 12 of the Passports Regulations is repealed and the following regulation is inserted in its stead:—

“12. A passport, unless specially endorsed for a shorter period, shall be valid for a period of five years and subject to these Regulations may be renewed for further periods of from one to five years:

Provided that in no case shall the validity of a passport be extended beyond ten years from the original date of issue.”

2. Regulation 16 of the Passports Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (c) the words “Two shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “One shilling for each year for which renewal of the passport is applied for”.

 

3. Form F of the Passports Regulations is repealed and the following Form is inserted in its stead:—

Where all available space on a Passport is already occupied by visas, application must be made on the prescribed form for the issue of a new Passport, and the full fee of 10s. is chargeable.

Renewal of Passport.

(a) Christian names and surnames in full.

(b) Insert from one up to five years, according to period of renewal desired. A fee of One shilling will be payable for each year of renewal. The validity of the Passport cannot, however, be extended beyond ten years from the original date of issue.

(c) Destination and route.

(d) Insert “British - born Subject” or “Naturalized British Subject” as the case may be.
