PASSPORTS.
An
Act to amend the
[Assented to 21st December, 1948.]
BE it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the
(
a ) by inserting after the definition of “Australian passport” in sub-section (1.) the following definition:—“‘Australian citizen’ means a person who is an Australian citizen within the meaning of the
Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948;”;(
b ) by omitting the definition of “British subject” in that sub-section and inserting in its stead the following definition:—“‘British subject’ means a British subject as defined in the
Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948 and includes a protected person as defined in that Act;”; and(
c ) by omitting from the definition of “officer” in that sub-section the words “the Interior” and inserting in their stead the word “Immigration”.

“(2.) Australian passports shall be issued in the name of the Governor-General and shall be in such forms as are approved by the Minister.
