I, Rodd Staples, Secretary of the Department of Transport, in pursuance of section 125 of the

Passenger Transport Act 2014, make the following Order on behalf of TfNSW.

Explanatory note

The object of this Order is to amend the Passenger Transport (Opal and Other Fares) Order 2016 to:

(a) define certain bus services for the purposes of the Order, and

(b)

increase certain fares for rail passenger services, light rail services, bus services, ferry services, a special service relating to New Year’s Eve, on-demand bus services and the school term bus pass, and

(c)

increase fare caps for Opal smartcard fares and approved payment device fares, with the exception of all weekly fare caps (which are to decrease) and Senior/Pensioner fare caps for Opal smartcard fares (which are to remain the same).

This Order is made under section 125 of the Passenger Transport Act 2014.

1      Name of Order

This Order is the Passenger Transport (Opal and Other Fares) Amendment Order

2019.

2      Commencement

This Order commences on 24 June 2019 and is required to be published on the NSW legislation website.

[1]      Clause 3 Definitions

Insert in alphabetical order in clause 3 (1):

Lake Macquarie on-demand bus service means an on-demand bus service
operated by Keolis Downer Hunter Pty Ltd (ACN 614 205 766) in the Lake

Macquarie area.

Sydney Inner West on-demand bus service means an on-demand bus service
operated by Transit Systems West Pty Ltd (ACN 161 755 988) in Canada Bay,
Strathfield, Breakfast Point, Rhodes and surrounding suburbs.
