Passenger Transport Act 2014

I, Rodd Staples, Secretary of the Department of Transport, in pursuance of section 125 of the

Passenger Transport Act 2014, make the following Order on behalf of TfNSW.

Explanatory note

The objects of this Order are:

(a)

to increase certain fares for rail passenger services, light rail services, bus services and ferry services, and

(b)

to clarify that rail passenger service fares apply to all rail passenger services other than light rail services, and

(c) to set fares for on-demand bus services.

This Order is made under section 125 of the Passenger Transport Act 2014.

1      Name of Order

This Order is the Passenger Transport (Opal and Other Fares) Amendment Order
2018.

2      Commencement

This Order commences on 2 July 2018 and is required to be published on the NSW legislation website.

Schedule 1 Amendment of Passenger Transport (Opal and
Other Fares) Order 2016

[1]      Clause 3 Definitions

Insert in alphabetical order in clause 3 (1):

on-demand bus service means a booked bus service.

[2]      Clause 4 Maximum fares

Insert “(other than light rail services)” after “rail passenger services” in clause 4 (1).

[3]      Clause 4 (2) and (4)

Omit “or Opal single trip ticket” wherever occurring.
Insert instead “, Opal single trip ticket or an approved payment device”.

[4]      Clause 4 (4A)

Insert “or approved payment device fares” after “Opal single trip ticket fares”.

[5]      Clause 4 (5)

Omit “supplied in accordance with any of the tickets or the pass”.

[6]      Clause 4 (9)

Omit the subclause.

Omit the Schedule. Insert instead:
