An Act to amend the Passenger Movement Charge Act 1978

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act is the Passenger Movement Charge Amendment (Timor Sea Maritime Boundaries Treaty) Act 2019.

2Commencement

1. (1)

   Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1	The later of: (a) the start of the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (b) the start of the day Schedule 1 to the Timor Sea Maritime Boundaries Treaty Consequential Amendments Act 2019 commences. However, the provisions do not commence at all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not occur.	30 August 2019 (paragraph (b) applies)

Note: This table relates only to the provisions of this Act as originally enacted. It will not be amended to deal with any later amendments of this Act.

   Any information in column 3 of the table is not part of this Act. Information may be inserted in this column, or information in it may be edited, in any published version of this Act.

3Schedules

Legislation that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendment of the Passenger Movement Charge Act 1978

Section 3

Insert:

installation in the Greater Sunrise special regime area means a resources installation, or a sea installation, that is attached to the seabed in the Greater Sunrise special regime area (within the meaning of the Seas and Submerged Lands Act 1973).

Section 3

Repeal the following definitions:

1. (a)

   definition of installation in the Joint Petroleum Development Area;

2. (b)

   definition of Joint Petroleum Development Area.

Section 4

Omit “installation in the Joint Petroleum Development Area” (wherever occurring), substitute “installation in the Greater Sunrise special regime area”.

Paragraph 5(b)

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:

1. (b)

   for an installation in the Greater Sunrise special regime area, after the commencement of the Passenger Movement Charge Amendment (Timor Sea Maritime Boundaries Treaty) Act 2019;
