The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Passenger Movement Charge Amendment Act 2008.

2Commencement

This Act commences on 1 July 2008.

3Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Passenger Movement Charge Act 1978

Section 6

Omit “$38”, substitute “$47”.

Application

The amendment made by item 1 applies in relation to the departure of a person from Australia on or after 1 July 2008, unless:

  1. (a)

    the person departs using a ticket or equivalent authority; and

  2. (b)

    the ticket or authority was sold or issued before 1 July 2008.
