Parliamentary Remuneration Amendment
Regulation 2015
under the
Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989
His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following
Regulation under the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to add the Chairs of the following Parliamentary Committees to the list of recognised office holders in Schedule 1 to the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989:
| (a) | the Legislative Assembly Committee on Environment and Planning, |
| (b) | the Investment, Industry and Regional Development Committee of the Legislative Assembly, |
| (c) | the Procedure Committee of the Legislative Council, |
| (d) | the General Purpose Standing Committee No 6 of the Legislative Council. |
Those Chairs will then be entitled to be paid an additional salary and an expense allowance, both at the rate of 6.25% of the basic salary to which they are entitled as Members of Parliament (in line with the rates for similar office holders).
This Regulation also makes law revision amendments (including by removing references to Chairs of Parliamentary Committees that have not been constituted in the current Parliament and updating the name of the Committee on the Office of the Ombudsman, the Police Integrity Commission and the Crime Commission constituted under the Ombudsman Act 1974).
This Regulation is made under the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989, including sections 6 (4) and 21
(the general regulation-making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Parliamentary Remuneration Amendment Regulation 2015.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

[1] Schedule 1 Additional salaries and expense allowances
Omit “Chair of the Committee on the Office of the Ombudsman and the Police Integrity
Commission constituted under the Ombudsman Act 1974” from the first column.Insert instead “Chair of the Committee on the Office of the Ombudsman, the Police Integrity Commission and the Crime Commission constituted under the Ombudsman Act 1974”.

Omit the matter relating to the Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Legislative Assembly, the Chair of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Economic Development and the Chair of the Social Policy Committee of the Legislative Assembly.

Omit the transitional provision. Insert instead:
Transitional provision. On and from the commencement of the Parliamentary Remuneration Amendment Regulation 2015, the percentages prescribed in this Schedule by that Regulation, in relation to any of the following office holders, extend to any remuneration of a person (who is such an office holder on that commencement) that relates to any period in the current Parliament during which the person held the relevant office before that commencement:
(a) the Chair of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Environment and Planning, (b) the Chair of the Investment, Industry and Regional Development Committee of the Legislative Assembly, (c) the Chair of the Procedure Committee of the Legislative Council, (d) the Chair of the General Purpose Standing Committee No 6 of the Legislative Council.
