Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989.

Explanatory note

Section 6 of the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989 provides for holders of certain offices (“recognised office holders”) specified in Schedule 1 to the Act to receive a salary and expense allowance in addition to the basic salary to which they are entitled as Members of Parliament. The additional salary and expense allowance to be received is expressed as a percentage of the basic salary.

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Parliamentary Remuneration Act

1989 so as:

(a) to remove the reference in Schedule 1 to that Act to the Chairman of the Joint Standing Committee on Small Business, and
(b) to provide for an additional salary and expense allowance for the Chairman of the Joint Standing Committee on Children and Young People.

This Regulation is made under the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989, including section 6 (Salary and expense allowance of recognised office holders).

(Additional Salary and Allowance) Regulation 2000.

2 Amendment of Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989

The Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Schedule 1 Amendment

(Clause 2)

Schedule 1 Additional salaries and expense allowances

Omit all the matter relating to the Chairman of the Joint Standing
Committee on Small Business from Part 2 of Schedule 1.

Insert instead the following:
