304 Parliamentary Members' Salaries Act Amendment Act 1989, No. 31 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Members' Salaries Act Amendment Act 1989. (2) In this Act the ParliamentaryMembers' Salaries Act 1988 as amended by the Public Accounts Committee Act 1988 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Members' Salaries Act 1988-1989. 2. Commencement . (1) Section 1 and this section shall commence on the day on which this Act is assented to for and on behalf of Her Majesty. (2) Section 3 (a) shall be deemed to have commenced on 19 November 1988 and shall be given retrospective effect accordingly. (3) Section 3 (b) shall commence on a day appointed by Proclamation. 3. Amendment of s. 9. Rates of additional salaries. Section 9 of the Principal Act is amended in subsection (1) by- (a) adding at the end of paragraph (j) the following expression and words:- (m) each member of the Parliamentary Service Commission who- (i) is not an Officer within the meaning of Part IV; or (ii) is not paid and is not entitled to payment of any addition to his salary under the foregoing paragraphs of this subsection, a salary at the same rate per annum as is applicable for the time being to the Government Deputy Whip under paragraph (h)"; (b) inserting after paragraph (j) the following paragraphs:- "(k) the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Public Works, a salary at the same rate per annum as is applicable for the time being to the Government Whip under paragraph (f); (1) each member (other than the chairman) of the Parliamentary Committee of Public Works, a salary at the same rate per annum as is applicable for the time being to the Government Deputy Whip under paragraph (h);".
