Act relating to joint sittings of the Parliament
[Assented to 1 May 1981]
BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the
Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as
follows:
Short
title
1. This Act may be cited
as the Parliamentary Joint Sittings
Amendment Act 1981.
Commencement
2. This Act shall come
into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
Amendment
of Evidence Act
3. Section 2 of the Evidence Act 19051 is amended
by adding “or held pursuant to any Act” at the end of the definition of “joint
sitting of the Parliament”.
Amendment
of the Parliamentary Proceedings Broadcasting Act
4. Section 3 of the Parliamentary Proceedings Broadcasting Act 19462
is amended by adding “or held pursuant to any Act” at the end of the definition
of “joint sitting” in sub-section (1).
Amendment
of the Parliamentary Papers Act
5. Section 1A of the Parliamentary Papers Act 19083
is amended by adding “or held pursuant to any Act” at the end of the definition
of “joint sitting”.
