I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor‑General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Parliamentary Entitlements Act 1990.

  1. Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Parliamentary Entitlements Amendment Regulations 2007 (No. 1).

  1. Commencement

These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.

  1. Amendment of Parliamentary Entitlements Regulations 1997

Schedule 1 amends the Parliamentary Entitlements Regulations 1997.

Schedule 1          Amendment

(regulation 3)

[1]          After subregulation 3 (3)

insert

(4)In this regulation:

constituent means either of the following persons:

(a)a person who lives in the Member’s electorate Division;

(b)a person in relation to whom the following circumstances apply:

(i)the person does not live in the Member’s electorate Division;

(ii)a redistribution of the State or Territory that includes the Member’s electorate Division has been formally determined in accordance with the Commonwealth law applicable to redistributions, but has not commenced;

(iii)the place where the person lives will be included in the Member’s electorate Division when the redistribution commences.
