E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, B by and with the advice and consent of the Legis lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1. (1.) This Act may be cited as “ The Parliamentary Short title. Contributory Superannuation Fund Acts Amendment Act of 1958.” (2.) “ The Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Principal Fund Acts , 1948 to 1954,” are in this Act referred to as Act‘ the Principal Act. (3.) The Principal Act and this Act may be Collective collectively cited as *“ The Parliamentary Contributory ' Superannuation Fund Acts, 1948 to 1958.” 2. Section six of the Principal Act is amended— Aofms.en6d. ments (a) By repealing the second paragraph of subsection one thereof and inserting, in lieu of that repealed paragraph, the following paragraph :— “ Any person who is a member at the date of the passing of f“ The Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Fund Acts Amendment Act of 1958,” may, not later than the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-eight, notify the chairman of the trustees in writing that he elects to continue to contribute for annuity benefit under this Act at the rate prescribed by this subsection. Save members who so elect, this subsection shall not apply on or after the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine, in the case of any person who is a member on that date or who becomes a member thereafter.” : (b) By inserting, after subsection one thereof, the following subsection:— “ (2 a .) No. 74, of members holding office at the passing of *“ The Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Fund Acts Amendment Act of 1958,” with the first such payment made after the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine) there shall be deducted from the amount payable to him— (a) Where the payment is made at fortnightly intervals—a sum of eight pounds ; (b) Where the payment is made at other intervals—a sum at the rate equivalent to eight pounds per fortnight, and every member and every person who, having ceased to be a member, is in receipt of salary, shall contribute to the Fund accordingly. Save members thereunto entitled who have duly elected under subsection one of this section to continue to contribute as prescribed for annuity benefit under this Act at the rate prescribed by that subsection this subsection shall apply in the case of every person who is a member at the passing of *“ The Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Fund Acts Amendment Act of 1958,” or who becomes (or again becomes) a member thereafter.” ; and (c) By repealing in subsection two thereof the words “ subsection one of ”. Amendment 3. Subsection three of section seven of the Principal of s. 7 (3). Act is amended by repealing therein the words “ nine months ” and inserting, in lieu of those repealed words, the words “ six months ”. Amendment 4. Section eleven of the Principal Act is renumbered of s. 11. subsection one of that section and, as so renumbered, is amended by adding thereto the following subsection :— “ ( 2 .) This section applies in the case of those persons who are members at the date of the passing of *“ The Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Fund Acts Amendment Act of 1958,” and who duly elect as prescribed by subsection one of section six of this Act to continue after the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine, to contribute for annuity benefit under this Act at the rate prescribed by the said subsection one.” * This Act.
CONSTITUTION. 115 1958. Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation, Etc., Act. 5. The following section is inserted after section New s. n a eleven of the Principal Act:— inserted. “ [11 a .] (1 .) The rate of annuity benefit payable Rate of under and in pursuance of this Act shall depend on the annuity‘ length of service of the member as follows :— (a) In respect of service of nine years or longer but less than twelve years as a member, annuity benefit shall be computed at the rate of twelve pounds (6) In respect of service of twelve years or longer but less than fifteen years as a member, annuity benefit shall be computed at the rate of fifteen pounds a week; and (c) In respect of service of fifteen years or longer as a member, annuity benefit shall be computed at the rate of seventeen pounds ten shillings a week. (2.) This subsection shall apply in the case of every person who is a member at the date of the passing of *“ The Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Fund Acts Amendment Act of 1958,” and who aftir the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine, contributes for annuity benefit under this Act at the increased rate of contribution prescribed by subsection (1 a ) of section six of this Act, and to every person who becomes a member after the passing of *“ The Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Fund Acts Amendment Act of 1958 6 . This Act shall not prejudice or affect the Saving, entitlement of any person who ceased to be a member prior to the passing of this Act, or of any widow of such a person, to annuity under, subject to, and in accordance with the provisions of the Principal Act. * This Act.
