s1 4 Parliamentary Committees and Criminal Justice Amendment Act 2001 The Parliament of Queensland enacts— s3 No. 2, 2001 PART 1—PRELIMINARY 1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Committees and Criminal Justice Amendment Act 2001. PART 2—AMENDMENT OF PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES ACT 1995 2 Act amended in pt 2 This part amends the Parliamentary Committees Act 1995. 3 Amendment of s 4A (Membership of statutory committees) (1) Section 4A(1)— omit, insert— ‘ (1) A statutory committee must consist of 7 members nominated as follows— (a) 4 members nominated by the member who is recognised in the Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the House; (b) 3 members nominated by the member who is recognised in the Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the Opposition.’. (2) Section 4A(2), ‘member mentioned in subsection (1)(a)’— omit, insert— ‘member who is recognised in the Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the House’.
s4 5 s6 Parliamentary Committees and Criminal Justice Amendment Act 2001 No. 2, 2001 4 Amendment of s 4B (Quorum and voting at meetings of statutory committees) (1) Section 4B(a)— omit, insert— ‘(a) a quorum consists of 4 members appointed to the committee; and’. (2) Section 4B, example— omit. PART 3—AMENDMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT 1989 5 Act amended in pt 3 This part amends the Criminal Justice Act 1989. 6 Amendment of s 116 (Membership of parliamentary committee) (1) Section 116(1)— omit, insert— ‘ (1) The parliamentary committee must consist of 7 members nominated as follows— (a) 4 members nominated by the member who is recognised in the Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the House; (b) 3 members nominated by the member who is recognised in the Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the Opposition.’. (2) Section 116(2), ‘member mentioned in subsection (1)(a)’— omit, insert— ‘member who is recognised in the Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the House’.
