212 ANNO VICESIMO OCTAVO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 25 of 1979 An Act to provide for the continuance of the Select Committee on Education beyond the prorogation of the Legislative Assembly; to preserve the operation of the resolution of 4 April 1978 by which that Committee was appointed; and to provide for the completion of unfinished business of that Committee [ASSENTED TO 31ST MAY, 1979] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title . This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Committee Transitional Act 1979. 2. Term of Select Committee on Education . The committee called the Select Committee on Education appointed by resolution of the Legislative Assembly passed on 4 April 1978 shall continue in existence until- (a) it has concluded the work undertaken by it pursuant to the provisions of the said resolution and has reported to the Legislative Assembly; (b) the expiry by effluxion of time of the Legislative Assembly in Session at the passing of this Act; or (c) the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly in Session at the passing of this Act, whichever of such events first occurs.

Each of the members of the Committee referred to in section 2 shall continue to hold office on the Committee until- (a) the Committee ceases to exist in accordance with section 2; (b) he resigns from the Committee; or (c) he ceases to be a member of the Legislative Assembly, whichever of such events first occurs. 4. Survival of resolution . (1) The Committee continued as aforesaid shall have and may exercise all the powers conferred on it by the resolution referred to in section 2. (2) The resolution referred to in section 2 shall continue to have force and effect and shall bind the Committee thereby appointed and any other person referred to therein and bound thereby until that Committee ceases to exist in accordance with section 2. 5. Unfinished business of Committee . Where a matter is inquired into or considered by the Committee referred to in section 2 and the Committee ceases to exist before it has reported on the matter, the evidence taken before it shall nevertheless be considered by any subsequent committee that may inquire into or consider the same matter as if the evidence had been given before and for the information and guidance of the subsequent committee.
