PAELIAMENTAEY ALLOWANCES

AND SALARIES ACT.

Act No. 18, 1938.

An Act to make further provision with regard to the allowances to members of the Legislative Assembly, and the salaries of Ministers of the Crown and of certain other persons; to amend the Constitution Act, 1902, and certain other Acts; to repeal the Parliamen- tary Allowances and Salaries Act, 1932, and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 31st October, 1938.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—

1 . (1) This Act may be cited as the "Parl iamentary Allowances and Salaries Act, 1938."

(2) The Constitution Act, 1902, as amended by sub- sequent Acts, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced

upon the first day of Ju ly , one thousand nine hundred

and thir ty-eight .

2.     The Pr inc ipa l Act is amended—

(a) by omitting from section twenty-eight the words
" s i x hundred and seventy p o u n d s " and by
inser t ing in lieu thereof the words " e i g h t hun­
dred and seventy-five p o u n d s " ;

(b)

by omitting from the same section the words " o n e hundred and seventy six p o u n d s " and by inser t ing in lieu thereof the words " t w o hun­

dred and fifty p o u n d s . "
3 . The Pr inc ipa l Act is fur ther amended—
(a) by omitting from subsection one of section forty- one the words " twen ty -one thousand seven hun­ dred and n ine ty p o u n d s " and by inser t ing in lieu thereof the words " twen ty - two thousand
three hundred and forty-five p o u n d s " ;

(b) (i) by omit t ing from the T h i r d Schedule t he figures "1,390 0 0 " and by inser t ing in lieu thereof the figures " 1,945 0 0 " ;

(ii)   by omitting from the same Schedule the

figures "13,740 0 0 " and by inser t ing in lieu
thereof the figures "14,295 0 0 . "

4 . There is hereby specially app rop r i a t ed out of the Consolidated Revenue F u n d an annual amount for t he paymen t as from the commencement of this Act of the

There is hereby specially appropriated out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund an annual amount for the payment, as from the commencement of this Act, of the .salaries of the persons for the time being filling the offices hereinafter mentioned, at the rate of four thousand sis hundred and ninety pounds—
