No. 34 of 1944.

AN ACT to amend the Parliamentary Allowances

Act, 1911.

[Assented to 23rd December, 1944.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short ititle. 1. This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Allow- ances Amendment Act,1944, and shall be read as one with the Parliamentary Allowances Act, 1911 (Act No. 33 of 1911 as amended by Acts No. 63 of 1919, No. 32 of 1925, No. 28 of 1927 and No. 6 of 1930), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

2. A new section is inserted in the principal Act as

servants in receipt of six hundred pounds per annum are increased or reduced by virtue of the provisions of section one hundred and sixty-four of the Indus- trial Arbitration Act, 1912-1941, and any award or Industrial Agreement made pursuant to the provi- sions of Part X. of the said Act.

Provided that the allowance of each member of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly shall be forthwith increased by seventy-five pounds per annum being an amount equivalent to the aggre- gate increase in salary received by civil servants as aforesaid since basic wage adjustment became applicable to civil service salaries in the year One thousand nine hundred and thirty-six.

Provided further that nothing herein contained shall

make any allowance liable to reduction below the amount

of such allowance payable at the 30th day of June, 1944.
