PARLIAMENTARY ALLOWANCES.

No. 73 of 1962.
AN ACT to amend the Parliamentary Allowances
Act, 1911-1955.
[Assented to 30th. November, 1962.]
RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Parliamen- atttn.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Allowances Act, 1911-1962.

| ment. | 2. | This Act shall come into operation on the first |
day of January, nineteen hundred and sixty-three.

3. Section three of the principal Act is
amended
| (a) | by repealing subsection (1) and re-enacting it as follows |
(1) Each member of the Legislative Council and each member of the Legislative Assembly is entitled on and after the first day of January, nineteen hundred and sixty-three, to receive an allowance at the rate of two thousand three hundred and eighty pounds per annum. ;
| (b) | by repealing subsection (2); |
| (c) | by repealing subsection (3) and re-enacting it as follows |
(3) The member of the Legislative Assembly who, for the time being, is recognised as the Leader of the Opposition, is entitled to receive an allowance at the rate of nine hundred and fifty pounds per annum in addition to the allowance that he is entitled to receive under subsection (1) of this section. ;
| (d) | by deleting the passage, ", and in addition to the allowance referred to in subsection (2) of this section where applicable" in lines ten, eleven and twelve of subsection (3a); |

| (e) | by deleting the passage, ", and in addition to the allowance referred to in subsection (2) of this section where applicable", in lines nine, ten and eleven of subsection (3b); and |
| (f) | by deleting the passage, ", and subsection (2) where applicable," in lines six and seven of subsection (4). |

| (2) The Chairman of Committees of the Legislative Council and the Chairman of Committees of the Legislative Assembly is each entitled, on and after the first day of January, nineteen hundred and sixty-three, to receive an allowance at the rate of two thousand six hundred and thirty pounds per annum but while entitled to receive that allowance is not entitled to receive any allowances under section three of this Act. . |
