Queensland Parliament of Queensland Amendment Act 2009 Act No. 7 of 2009 An Act to amend the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001 to provide for the Law, Justice and Safety Committee and the Public Accounts and Public Works Committee, and to make amendments to other Acts as stated in the schedule [Assented to 28 May 2009]

Parliament of Queensland Amendment Act 2009 Part 1 Introduction [s 1] The Parliament of Queensland enacts— Part 1 Introduction 1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Parliament of Queensland Amendment Act 2009 . Part 2 Amendment of Parliament of Queensland Act 2001 2 Act amended This part amends the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001. 3 Amendment of s 9 (Meaning of proceedings in the Assembly ) Section 9(3), example, ‘Public Accounts Committee’— omit, insert— ‘Public Accounts and Public Works Committee’. 4 Amendment of s 79 (Definitions for ch 5) Section 79, definition public works , ‘section 96(1)’— omit, insert— ‘section 95(1)’. (2) Section 96(1)— omit, insert— ‘(1) The Public Accounts and Public Works Committee has the following areas of responsibility— (a) the assessment of the integrity, economy, efficiency and effectiveness of government financial management by— (i) examining government financial documents; and (ii) considering the annual and other reports of the auditor-general; Page 6 2009 Act No. 7

(3) Section 96, as amended— renumber as section 95. 11 Insertion of new s 96 Before section 97— insert— ‘96 Reference of issues to auditor-general ‘The Public Accounts and Public Works Committee may refer issues within its area of responsibility mentioned in section 95(1)(a) to the auditor-general for consideration.’. 12 Replacement of s 98 (Issues to which committee may have regard) Section 98— omit, insert— ‘98 Issues to which committee may have regard ‘In considering works, the Public Accounts and Public Works Committee may have regard to the issues mentioned in section 95(2)(a) to (i).’. 13 Amendment of ss 99–102 Section 99(1), 100(1)(a), 101(1) and 102(1), ‘Public Works Committee’— omit, insert— ‘Public Accounts and Public Works Committee’. 2009 Act No. 7 Page 7

Parliament of Queensland Amendment Act 2009 Part 3 Amendment of other Acts [s 14] 14 Renumbering of ch 5, pt 4, divs 5–6 Chapter 5, part 4, divisions 5 and 6— renumber as chapter 5, part 4, divisions 4 and 5. 15 Insertion of new s 164 Chapter 10— insert— ‘164 Transitional provision for the Parliament of Queensland Amendment Act 2009 ‘(1) In an Act or document, if the context permits, a reference to the Legal, Constitutional and Administrative Review Committee is taken to be a reference to the Law, Justice and Safety Committee. ‘(2) In an Act or document, if the context permits, a reference to the Public Accounts Committee or the Public Works Committee is taken to be a reference to the Public Accounts and Public Works Committee.’.
