PAPUA AND NEW GUINEA.
An Act to provide for the appointment of a Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of the Territory of Papua and New Guinea.
[Assented to 20th November, 1964.]
BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
(2.) The
(
a )by inserting in sub-section (5.), after the word “and”, the words “, subject to the next succeeding sub-section,”; and(
b ) by inserting after sub-section (5.) the following sub-section:—“(5a.) The Governor-General may appoint one of the judges (other than the Chief Justice or an acting judge), to be the senior puisne judge, and the judge so appointed shall, while he continues to be a puisne judge, be the senior puisne judge and have seniority next after the Chief Justice.”.
