AN ACT to amend the O ptometrists Act, 1940.

[Assented to 18th November, 1947.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1.

This Act may be cited as the Optometrists Act Amendment Act, 1947, and shall be read as one with the Optometrists Act, 1940 (No. 33 of 1940, as amended by No. 44 of 1944), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

3. Section sixteen of the principal Act is amended by

deleting subsection (3).

4. Section twenty-five of the principal Act is amended Aorse.n2tent

by

(a) substituting for the word "January" in sub- section (1), line five, and subsection (2), line one, the word "February," and

(b) substituting for the words "thirty-first day of December" in subsection (1), line seven, the words "fifteenth day of January."

5. Section thirty-two of the principal Act is amended .'-finse.n3d2m.eut

by adding a subsection as follows:—

(3) Any person who-

(a)

has secured a pass in respect of both the first and second year examinations of the optometry course of the University of Western Australia;

(b) is attending either the third or fourth year

of that course, and

(c) is approved in writing by the Board as a

fit and proper person to do so,

may, without contravention of this section, practise optometry under the supervision of a registered optometrist at any premises or place occupied or used by the registered optometrist for the practice of optometry therein, and while a registered opto-. metrist is personally in full-time attendance thereat.
