EXPLANATORY NOTE
Under the Optometrists Act 1930, some persons can become eligible for registration as optometrists in New South Wales merely by undertaking and passing the prescribed examinations. The persons concerned are persons who already possess qualifications in optometry (for example, qualifications obtained in another country) that are not regarded as sufficient, of themselves, to entitle the persons to be registered.
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Optometrists Regulations 1965 so as to prescribe the examinations that must be undertaken and passed by persons holding qualifications of this kind who wish to become eligible for registration as optometrists.
