An Act to amend the Law relating to Persons accepting Office under the Crown who may retain their Seats M the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly.

HEREAS by The Constitution Act, 1880; it is enacted that Preamble

Assembly, after his nomination or election, accepts any Office of Profit -

under the Crown, other than that of an officer of Her Majesty's sea or land forces on full, half, or retired pay, his seat shall thereupon become vacant : And whereas it may be desirable, in the event of the death, incapacity, or absence of the Governor, to appoint a Member of the Legislative Council or Legislative Assembly to administer the Govern-

ment of the Colony for the time being ; and it is expedient that a. member so appointed should not, by accepting such office, vacate his seat : Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
