[ASSENTED TO 17TH DECEMBER, 1901.] W Preamble. HEREAS by certain Acts of Parliament and other- wise certain duties, obligations, rights, and powers not relating to Customs or Excise have been imposed and conferred upon the Collector of Customs and officers of Customs and officers of Excise, and by reason of the transfer of the Department of Customs and of Excise to the Commonwealth, it is necessary to provide for the per- formance and exercise of such duties, obligations, rights, and powers: Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the·advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : - Short tit) e. 't This Act may be cited as " The Officers of Customlt and Excise Act of 1901." Performance 2. Where in or by any Act of Parliament, Proclama- ~ f ~ ertaind tion, Order in Council, rule, regulation, by-law, contract, p~ ~ : ~ sa~f or agreement any duty, obligation, right, or power, not ~~ ~ : : O~ f and relating to Customs or Exc;ise, is imposed or conferred Customs. upon the Collector of Customs or on any officer of Customs or officer of Excise in his capacity as such Collector or officer, then such duty, obligation, right, or power, shall be performed or exercised by such officer or class of officers as the Governor in Council may, by a general or particular Order in Council published in the Gazette, from time to. time appoint to perform or exercise such duty, obligation, right, or power.
