AN ACT to amend the Occupational Therapists Act,
1957-1963.
[Assented to 9th June, 1976.]
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
| 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Occupational Therapists Act Amendment Act, 1976. | Short title |

| (3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Occupational Therapists Act, 1957-1976. |

Section 3
Section 3 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the interpretation of the term "occupational therapy" and substituting a new interpretation as follows

"occupational therapy" means the process of assisting the rehabilitation and development of the physical, psychological and social functions of a person through the use of creative activities, work and recreation according to the needs and interests of the individual patient; .
Section 4
| amended. | 3. | Section 4 of the principal Act is amended |
| (a) | as to subsection (1), by deleting paragraph (c) and substituting a new paragraph as follows |
| (c) | a person who is nominated by the Council of The Western Australian Institute of Technology; and |
| (b) | by repealing and re-enacting subsection (2) with amendments as follows |
(2) The Board shall be constituted by the persons from time to time appointed pursuant to subsection (1) of this section. ; and
| (c) | as to subsection (4), by deleting the words "when constituted" in line one of that subsection. |
Section 7
| amended. | 4. Section 7 of the principal Act is amended |
| (a) | by inserting after the passage "universities," in line one of paragraph (c), the passage "colleges of advanced education,"; |
(b) as to paragraph (i)—
(i) by deleting the words "and classes to be attended", in lines two and three, and substituting the passage ", consisting of theoretical, practical and clinical components"; and

(ii) by deleting subparagraph (ii) and subparagraph (iii) and substituting two new subparagraphs as follows
(ii) the minimum time to be spent in professional education; and
| (iii) | the places at which persons may be so educated, ; |
| (c) | as to paragraph (j), by deleting the passage "minimum age, and qualifications to be held, and conditions", in lines one and two, and substituting the words "entrance standards"; and |
| (d) | by deleting paragraph (k) and substituting a new paragraph as follows |
| (k) | prescribing the manner and form in which applications are to be made and certificates issued under this Act, and as to the use of certificates; . |
| 5. Section 8 of the principal Act is amended— Section 8 | amended. |
| (a) | as to subsection (1), by deleting the passage commencing with the word "Board", in line two, and ending with the passage "Act;", in line eighteen, and substituting the words "Board that he is a person of good character and holds any of the qualifications prescribed by the rules as a qualification for registration"; and |
(b) by deleting subsection ( la).
