Repeals) Regulation 1996

Occupational Health and Safety Act 1983
His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1983.

Explanatory note
The objects of this Regulation are as follows:
(a)
to extend the period for which the Occupational Health and Safety (Carcinogenic Substances) (Transitional) Regulation 1994 is to remain in force from 1 September 1996 until 1 September 1997,
(b)
to rename the Occupational Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal Work) Regulation 1995 as the Occupational Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal Work) Regulation 1996, so as to correctly identify the year in which the Regulation was made and Gazetted,
(c)
to provide for the commencement of the Occupational Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal Work) Regulation 1995 on l September 1996, rather than 2 September 1996, so as to ensure that i t takes effect immediately on the repeal of the regulation that it replaces,
(d)
to repeal an amending regulation that has become unnecessary as a result of the repeal of the regulation it purports to amend.
This Regulation is made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
1983, including section 45 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Occupational Health and Safety
(Miscellaneous Amendments and Repeals) Regulation 1996.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 31 August 1996.
3 Explanatory note
The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.
4 Amendment of Occupational Health and Safety (Carcinogenic Substances) (Transitional) Regulation 1994
The Occupational Health and Safety (Carcinogenic Substances)
( Transitional) Regulation 1994 is amended by omitting
‘ " l September 1996” from clause 9 and by inserting instead
" 1 September 1997”. 5 Amendment of Occupational Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal Work) Regulation 1995
The Occupational Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal Work)
Regulation 1995 is amended:
(a) by omitting “Occupational Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal Work) Regulation 1995” from clause 1 and by inserting instead “Occupational Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal Work) Regulation 1996”. (b) by omitting “2 September 1996” from clause 2 and by inserting instead “ l September 1996”.
