by and with tbe advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the “ Oaths (Amend- short title

ment) Act, 1953.”

(2) The Oaths Act, 1900, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Oaths Act, 1900-1953.

(3) The Conveyancing Act, 1919, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Conveyancing Act, 1919-1953.

2. The Oaths Act, 1900-1936, is amended—

(2) In this section and in section 26a of this

Act—

“ Australian Consular Officer” means a person appointed to hold or act in any of the following offices (being an office of the Commonwealth of Australia) in a country or place outside the Com­ monwealth of Australia, namely,

Ambassador,

Commissioner,

Minister, Head of Mission, Commis­ sioner, Charge d ’ Affaires, Counsellor

or

or Secretary at an Embassy, High Commissioner’s Office or Legation, Consul-General, Consnl, Vice-Consul, Trade Commissioner and Consular Agent.

“ British Consular Officer” means a British
