840 Nursing Studies Act and Other Acts Amendment Act 1984, No. 74 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- PART I-PRELIMINARY 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Nursing Studies Act and Other Acts Amendment Act 1984. 2. Arrangement . This Act is divided into Parts as follows:- PART I-PRELIMINARY (SS. 1-2); PART II-AMENDMENT OF NURSING STUDIES ACT 1976-1978 (ss. 3-5) ; PART 111-AMENDMENT OF CHIROPODISTS ACT 1969-1975 (ss. 6-7); PART IV-AMENDMENT OF CHIROPRACTIC MANIPULATIVE THERAPISTS ACT 1979 (ss. 8-9); PART V-AMENDMENT OF DENTAL ACT 1971-1973 (ss. 10-11); PART VI-AMENDMENT OF HOSPITALS ACT 1936-1983 (ss. 12-13); PART VII-AMENDMENT OF MEDICAL ACT 1939-1984 (ss. 14-15); PART VIII-AMENDMENT OF NURSING ACT 1976-1979 (ss. 16-18); PART IX-AMENDMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS ACT 1979 (ss. 19-20) ; PART X-AMENDMENT OF OPTOMETRISTS ACT 1974 (ss. 21-22); PART XI-AMENDMENT OF PHARMACY ACT 1976-1981 (ss. 23-24); PART XII-AMENDMENT OF PHYSIOTHERAPISTS ACT 1964-1981 (ss. 25-26) ; PART XIII-AMENDMENT OF PSYCHOLOGISTS ACT 1977 (ss. 27-28); PART XIV-AMENDMENT OF QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL RESEARCH ACT 1945-1981 (ss. 29-30); PART XV-AMENDMENT OF SPEECH THERAPISTS ACT 1979 (ss. 31-32). PART II-AMENDMENT OF NURSING STUDIES ACT 1976-1978 3. Citation . (1) In this Part the Nursing Studies Act1976-1978 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Princinal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Nursing Studies Act1976-1984. 4. Amendment of s. 7. Members of Board . Section 7 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting from subsection (3) the words "Adviser in Nursing, Department of Health " and substituting the words " Chief Nursing Officer in Queensland appointed pursuant to the provisions of the Hospitals Act 1936-1984 "; (b) omitting subsection (8).

Accredited school of nursing to issue certificate etc. Section 24 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " in the prescribed form " and substituting the words " to that effect ". PART 111-AMENDMENT OF CHIROPODISTS ACT 1969-1975 6. Citation. (1) In this Part the Chiropodists Act1969-1975 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Chiropodists Act1969-1984. 7. Repeal of and new s. 12. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 12 and substituting the following section:- " 12. Entitlements of members of Bo ar d and committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 11 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty. (2) Members of the Board and members of a committee shall be entitled to be re-imbursed such out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such members as are approved by the Board.". PART IV-AMENDMENT OF CHIROPRACTIC MANIPULATIVE THERAPISTS ACT 1979 8. Citation . (1) In this Part the Chiropractic Manipulative TherapistsAct1979 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Chiropractic Manipulative Therapists Act1979-1984. 9. Repeal of and new s . 13. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 13 and substituting the following section:- " 13. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 12 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty.

PART V-AMENDMENT OF DENTAL ACT 1971-1973 10. Citation . (1) In this Part the Dental Act1971-1984, being the Dental Act1971-1973 as amended by the Dental Act Amendment Act1984, is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Dental Act1971-1984. 11. Repeal of and new s. 13. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 13 and substituting the following section:- " 13. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 12 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty. (2) Members of the Board and members of a committee shall be entitled to be re-imbursed such out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such members as are approved by the Board.". PART VI-AMENDMENT OF HOSPITALS ACT 1936-1983 12. Citation . (1) In this Part the Hospitals Act 1936-1984, being the Hospitals Act 1936-1983 as amended by the Hospitals Act AmendmentAct1984, is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Hospitals Act 1936-1984. 13. Amendment of s. 13. Section 13 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsection (12) and substituting the following subsection:- " (12) Entitlements of members of Boards. Members of Boards shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council.". PART VII-AMENDMENT OF MEDICAL ACT 1939-1984 14. Citation . (1) In this Part the Medical Act1939-1984, being the Medical Act1939-1981 as amended by the Medical Act AmendmentAct1984, is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Medical Act1939-1984.

Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 9A shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty. (2) Members of the Board and members of a committee shall be entitled to be re-imbursed such out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such members as are approved by the Board.". PART VIII-AMENDMENT OF NURSING ACT 1976-1979 16. Citation . (1) In this Part the Nursing Act1976-1979 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Nursing Act1976-1984. 17. Repeal of and new s . 17. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 17 and substituting the following section:- " 17. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 16 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty. (2) Members of the Board and members of a committee shall be entitled to be re-imbursed such out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such members as are approved by the Board.". 18. Amendment of s. 20. Accounts . Section 20 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after subsection (2) the following subsection:- " (2A) The Board may, with the approval of the Minister, appropriate any portion of its funds, not required by the Board for any of the purposes mentioned in subsection (2) or for the purposes of the Medical Act and Other Acts (Administration) Act1966-1980, for nursing research.". PART IX-AMENDMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS ACT 1979 19. Citation . (1) In this Part the Occupational Therapists Act1979 is referred to as the Principal Act.

The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 13 and substituting the following section:- " 13. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 12 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty. (2) Members of the Board and members of a committee shall be entitled to be re-imbursed such out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such members as are approved by the Board.". PART X-AMENDMENT OF OPTOMETRISTS ACT 1974 21. Citation. (1) In this Part the Optometrists Act1974 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Optometrists Act1974-1984. 22. Repeal of and new s. 14 . The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 14 and substituting the following section:- " 14. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 13 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty. (2) Members of the Board and members of a committee shall be entitled to be re-imbursed such out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such members as are approved by the Board.". PART XI-AMENDMENT OF PHARMACY ACT 1976-1981 23. Citation. (1) In this Part the Pharmacy Act1976-1981 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Pharmacy Act1976-1984.

PART XII-AMENDMENT OF PHYSIOTHERAPISTS ACT 1964-1981 25. Citation . (1) In this Part the Physiotherapists Act1964-1981 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Physiotherapists Act1964-1984. 26. Repeal of and new s. 11. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 11 and substituting the following section:- " 11. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 10 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty. (2) Members of the Board and members of a committee shall be entitled to be re-imbursed such out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such members as are ap- roved by the Board.". PART XIII-AMENDMENT OF PSYCHOLOGISTS ACT 1977 27. Citation . (1) In this Part the Psychologists Act1977 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Psychologists Act1977-1984. 28. Repeal of and new s . 13. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 13 and substituting the following section:- " 13. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 12 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances

PART XLV-AMENDMENT OF QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL RESEARCH ACT 1945-1981 29. Citation . (1) In this Part the Queensland Institute of MedicalResearch Act1945- 1981 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be referred to as the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Act1945-1984. 30. Repeal of and new s. 8G. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 8G and substituting the following section:- " 8G. Entitlements of members of Trust. Members of the Trust shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Trust who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Trust during his ordinary hours of duty.". PART XV-AMENDMENT OF SPEECH THERAPISTS ACT 1979 31. Citation . (1) In this Part the Speech Therapists Act1979 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be referred to as the Speech Therapists Act1979-1984. 32. Repeal of and new s . 13. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 13 and substituting the following section:- " 13. Entitlements of members of Board or committees. (1) Members of the Board and members of a committee formed pursuant to section 12 shall be entitled to such fees and allowances as are approved by the Governor in Council save that a member of the Board or that committee who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland shall not receive fees or allowances for attendance at a meeting of the Board or that committee during his ordinary hours of duty.
