Nurses (Consequential Amendments) Ordinance 1988

An Ordinance to amend certain Ordinances in consequence of the Nurses Ordinance 1988

Short title

1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the Nurses (Consequential Amendments) Ordinance 1988.1

Commencement

2.  This Ordinance shall come into operation on such date as is fixed by the Minister by notice in the Gazette.

Adoption of Children Ordinance—amendment

3.  Section 29 of the Adoption of Children Ordinance 1965 is amended  by omitting from subsection (4) “Nurses Registration Ordinance 1933-1960” and substituting “Nurses  Ordinance 1988”.

Children’s Service Ordinance—amendments

4.  (1)  In this section “Principal Ordinance” means the Children’s Services Ordinance 1986.

(2)  Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting in subsection (1) the following definition in its appropriate alphabetical position:

“ ‘registered nurse’ has the same meaning as in the Nurses Ordinance 1988;”.

(3)  Section 103 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting in paragraph (2) (a) “registered” before “nurse”.

Mental Health Ordinance—amendment

5.  Section 12 of the Mental Health Ordinance 1983 is amended by omitting paragraph (2) (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(a)is registered as a mental health nurse under the Nurses Ordinance 1988; or”.

Physiotherapists Registration Ordinance—amendment

6.  Section 3 of the Physiotherapists Registration Ordinance 1977 is amended by omitting from the definition of “nurse” in subsection (1) “Nurses Registration Ordinance 1933” and substituting “Nurses Ordinance 1988”.

Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Ordinance—amendment

7.  Section 5 of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Ordinance 1963 is amended by omitting from the definition of “registered nurse” in subsection (1) “Nurses Registration Ordinance 1933-1960” and substituting “Nurses Ordinance 1988”.

Transplantation and Anatomy Ordinance—amendments

8.  (1)  In this section “Principal Ordinance” means the Transplantation and Anatomy Ordinance 1978.

(2)  Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting in subsection (1) the following definitions in their appropriate respective alphabetical positions:

“ ‘enrolled nurse’ has the same meaning as in the Nurses Ordinance 1988;

‘registered nurse’ has the same meaning as in the Nurses Ordinance 1988;”.

(3)  Section 24 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from subparagraph (2) (a) (iii) “nurse or nursing aid” and substituting “registered nurse or enrolled nurse”.

(4)  Section 25 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from subparagraph (1) (a) (iii) “nurse or nursing aid” and substituting “registered nurse or enrolled nurse”.
