Nurses (General) Amendment New South Wales

Regulation 2000

under the

Nurses Act 1991

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Nurses Act 1991.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is:

(a)

to change the reference to the body that conducts the examination required for enrolment as a nurse in List “A” of the Roll of Nurses, and

(b)

to remove the requirement to pay fees for the granting of a certificate of provisional registration as a nurse or for entry in the appropriate list of the Roll of Nurses, and

(c)

to remove the requirement that an accredited nurse may only use certain specified benchtop and portable sterilisers, and

(d)

to amend references to the name of the Nurses Registration Board in the prescribed forms of certificates.

This Regulation is made under the Nurses Act 1991, including sections 23, 26 and

78 (the general regulation-making power).

Nurses (General) Amendment Regulation 2000

1     Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Nurses (General) Amendment Regulation 2000.

2 Amendment of Nurses (General) Regulation 1997

The Nurses (General) Regulation 1997 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

3 Notes

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

(Clause 2)

[1]     Clause 8 Enrolment in List “A”: section 27

Omit “Department of Training and Education Co-ordination” from clause
8 (3) (b).
Insert instead “TAFE Commission”.

[2]     Clause 13 Fees

Omit the matter relating to section 23 (1) (d) and section 26 (3).

[3]     Clause 13

Insert at the end of clause 13:

Note. There is no fee prescribed for the purposes of section 23 (1) (d) or section 26 (3) of the Act.

[4]     Schedule 1 Infection control standards

Omit clause 14 (3).

[5]     Schedule 2 Forms

Omit “New South Wales” wherever occurring in Forms 1, 3 and 4.
