An Act to amend The Northern Territory Land Act, 1876.

IIEREAS it is desirable to amend " The Northern Territory Preamble.

W Land Act, 1872"-Be it therefore Enacted by the Governor

of the Province of South Australia, with the advice and consent of

the Legislative Council and House of Assembly of the said Province,

in this present Parliament assembled, as follows:

1. Sections 39 and 74 of "The Northern Jerritory Land Act, R~P*

1872," are hereby repealed.

or otherwise, the land comprised therein shall not be relet for pastoral purposes without a lease of the same having been first offered to the person bidding the highest rent for the same at public auction: And provided that such leases shall not be offered at auction at a less rental than Two Shillings and Sixpence per square mile.

4. If any person shall apply in writing to tlie Commissioner for a

special survey of any waste lands of not lcss area than twenty acres, and $hall specify the locality of such waste lands, and

shall at the time of making such application deposit with the Com-

missioner an amount to be fixed by the Commissioner, as the cost of such survey, such person shdl be entitled to have the said waste lands surveyed by the sdd Commimioner, and after the said survey shall have been made, to purchase the same for cash at the price of Seven Shillings and Sixpence per awe, and the actual cost of survey; and the said Commissioner shall thereupon deliver to him a grant of such lands: Provided always, that the said Commissioner may refuse to entertain any such application: And provided allso, that notice of every such application shall be given by advertisement in

the Governmefit Gazette.
