portion of the said province known as thc Northern Territory? shall be chargeable with the several duties of Customs in the said schedule respectively set forth; and in respect of all other goods imported or brought into the said Northern Territory the same duties of Customs shall be chargeable as are chargeable in rcspect of thc like goods under the Act, No. 34 of 1876, intituled " An Act to amend the Laws of the Customs," and an Act, No. l 9 6 of l88 1, intituled An Act to authorise the making of conventions between South ,4ustralia and New South Wales, and arrangements between South Australia and Victoria with reference to border duties, and to amend the law rclating to the dutics of Customs and the mode of collection thereof, and for other purposes," or any ,4ct amending or repealing thc said Acts, or either of them.

6. At the time and place of such examination, all gold so

packages shall be sealed arid secured by an officer of the Customs at the expense of the exporter; and if any such seal shall be broken, or package opened, the packagc ohall be forfeited, and the owner shall forfeit the sum of One Hundred Pounds.

Any person who shall falsely make any representation for the purpose of evading, or who shall fraudulently esade, or attempt to evade, any of the provisions of this -4ct, or who shall infringe any of the regulations to be made hereunder, shall be liable to a penalty of Fifty Pounds, and the gold, or other goods in respect of which

of the said province known as the Northern Territory previous to the passing of this Act, and in respect of any action, claim, or damages to which he or they might otherwise be liable by reason of any refusal to deliver goods without payment of the duties by this Act authorised to be levied.

tions shall, when published in the Government G~x~tte, have the force of law, and shall be laid before both Houses of Pa,rliament within fourteen days after the making thereof, if Parliament be then sitting, and if Parliament bc not sitting, then within fourteen days after thc commencement of the next Session of Parliament.

10. Nothing in this Act contained shall be construed so as to $O?'",E;E:t
