An Act to repeal the NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Act 1992, and for other purposes

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

  1. Name of Act

    This Act is the NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Repeal Act 2015.

  2. Commencement

    This Act commences on the day after its notification day.

    NoteThe naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

  3. Legislation repealed

    (1)The NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Act 1992 (A1992-40) is repealed.

    (2)All legislative instruments under the NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Act 1992 are repealed.

Part 14Transitional—NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Repeal Act 2015

  1. Meaning of commencement day—pt 14

    In this part:

    commencement day means the day the NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Repeal Act 2015, section 4 commences.

  2. Trust to be charitable

    (1)The repealed section continues to apply.

    (2)In this section:

    repealed section means the NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Act 1992, section 5 (Trust to be charitable), as in force immediately before the commencement day.

    (3)This section expires 3 years after the commencement day.

  3. Exemption from liability

    (1)The repealed section continues to apply to acts or omissions occurring before the termination of the trust regardless whether the acts or omissions occurred on or after the commencement day.

    (2)In this section:

    repealed section means the NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Act 1992, section 6 (Exemption from liability), as in force immediately before the commencement day.

    trust—see the NRMA—ACT Road Safety Trust Act 1992, dictionary, definition of trust, as in force immediately before the commencement day.

    (3)This section expires 15 years after the commencement day.

  4. Expiry—pt 14

    This part (other than section 305) expires 15 years after the commencement day.

    NoteTransitional provisions are kept in the Act for a limited time.  A transitional provision is repealed on its expiry but continues to have effect after its repeal (see Legislation Act, s 88).
